Coupon Craziness 5.75

I think this is the last CVS/Walgreen’s trip this week.

I went to CVS yesterday because the Suave coupons were finally found/printed for the CVS deal, thanks to Money Saving Mom.

I got 3 suave body washes for $2 each = $6.00 – (2) $1/1 IP. = $4.00 – $2 ECB’s = $2/3 ($0.67 each)

It could work better if you got 3 $1/1 Q’s to print, but I couldn’t make that work.   $0.67 was still good enough for me to do it.

BUT I had to go annoy a manager to make it happen.   The signs and ad say $2.00 each.   They so graciously offered me a $0.01 discount on each bottle.  They rang up at $1.99 instead of $2.00.   Thus making me $0.03 short of getting my $2 ECB.   So I had to go in today to make them fix it.   I wasn’t feeling terribly assertive yesterday until I got back and then my bro talked me off the ledge before I had a chance to call the Cape Coral Hospital and try to make them adjust their nonsense.

But it’s been fixed.

Let me just start off by saying I HATE Florida pricing laws. I never realized it was different until I left Michigan. In Michigan you are required to put a price on EVERY item (except 25 or something like that). And if you are charged the wrong price, you have to fix it and then some.

In Florida, nothing is labeled. And it’s probably on the wrong hanger or over the wrong shelf tag. And the stores never put up their sale taggies in front of the items or take their sweet @$$ time doing it. It’s enough to make me go batty!!!

Okay, rant over. Today was a mixed bag.

First, I went to Publix. The Grocery Game (referral info: jensteed.08 at gmail dot com) had listed a great deal on Cover Girl lip gloss for $0.75 each. My Publix, however, doesn’t carry cosmetics. Talk about moving from Podunk to Podunk South.

Then I went to CVS.

I fared a little better there. I bought:

Huggies Wipes – 2/$5, less a $0.50/1Q = $2.00

Huggies Baby Soap -2/$5, less a $1.00/1Q = $1.50

Crest Pro-Health Mouthwash – $3.99 – $0.75/1Q – $1ECB = $2.24

Kotex Long Pantyliners (16ct) – $1.49 – $1.49/CRT = FREE!

Stinky Foot Powder Spray – $4.99

And finally, the basis of my rant, 12 Hershey Bars, 50% off for Valentines day. I THOUGHT I heard someone say they rang up at $0.25 yesterday, but what they SAID was $0.75. When I got out to the car and looked at the receipt and found out they were 3 times more than I thought, I couldn’t decide whether to take them back or not. $0.75 a bar? That’s almost full price! 50% off my butt!! Then in my pissivity, I opened one and started chowing away. They are a LOT bigger than normal. These bars were 3.5 oz each; normal bars are 1.45 oz. So I kept them :).

Total Regular Price – $44.59

Total Sale Price – $27.47

Less Coupons Used – $3.74

Total OOP – $23.73

I also made a quick stop at the WinnDixie. I don’t like it as much as the Publix (it’s dirty), but they have better sales. The Grocery Game also pointed out this deal that I got:

2 boxes of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes (12 oz) – on sale for $1.77 each – $1.50/2Q = $1.02/box.

Total Regular Price – $6.58

Total Sale Price – $3.54

Less Coupons – $1.50

Total OOP – $2.04

I started out to Walgreens to take advantage of the Revlon BOGO + rebate + coupons. I SUSPECT that the management removed all the lip gloss that had the FAR so that you didn’t get 2 lip glosses for free. It would have been a $12-14MM (with 2 $1/1 or $2/1 Q’s) if it had worked. Did anyone else find that to be the case?

My CVS run

I bought:
2 jumbo packs of Huggies on 2 day sale $17.98 total – 2 uPromise ecoupons – $2.50 total – $1.50 Caregivers Marketplace rebate = $13.98 total or $7.24 & $6.74 each. Amounts to about $0.22 per diaper. I wish I had gotten more of the herald last week for the huggies coupons.

4 herbal essences shampoos – $2.99 each – $3/2Q – $1 ECB earned = $0.49 each.

Total regular price – $44.34

I know i said i would try to roll previous RR into today, but the swiffers were p&g products also and I don’t think I can use them like that. With friends visiting, I didn’t want to experiment with it.

Garnier Fructis Wonder Waves shampoo – $4.29 – $1.00Q – $4.29 EasySaver rebate = $1.00MM!!

Gilette Fusion Razor – $8.99, on sale – $4.00Q – $6RR = $1.01MM!!

Nivea Pure Moisture body lotion – $7.99 – $1Q – $1.50 ECBs – $5.49 which doesn’t look that great except that it was paired with this to earn the $3 ECB

Nivea Pearly Lip Gloss – $2.99 – $1Q – $1.50 ECB = $0.49!!

I was quite disappointed to have missed out on the hershey’s chocolate ECBs, though I’m sure my waistband is thanking me :).

I just realized I could have done better on the Nivea. Buy 2 Nivea lip products at 3.99 and one at $2.99. Use 3 $1.00Q from Sundays insert, earn $3.00. Result is $5 spent insted of $6.00 or $1.67 each.

* I didn’t count previously earned ECBs because I count them in the transaction they are earned in.

Coupon Craziness 3

Frankly, I just don’t feel like taking pics today.     It’s been a long day for all of us.   Well, I still don’t, but figured Dagny would have fun playing in the piles of goodies so I did it anyway :). But my internet connection took a dump and was too slow to upload them and a week later, I still haven’t posted this yet — It’s from LAST Sunday/Monday — no CVS or Walgreens deals worth posting or making my in-laws take me for (we are visiting them and the van is under the knife).

I did a CVS run and a tiny Walgreens run.   I kind of made an elementary mistake in my CVS run and will have to go back to fix it tomorrow.    When you have a buy x dollars of Brand Y, get z ECB’s, you can’t use clearance items toward that.  Bummer!  And I wasted a coupon.

Anyway, CVS:

Almay Eye Pencil- Clearance 50% off – $3.74 – $1/1 = $2.74 (this was my mistake–I have to go back Monday and spend another $7 to get the $5.  If I don’t, I’ve wasted 2 coupons, but I have some ECB’s from this transaction that I can use for less OOP, so I’m okay with it.   Really. ).    I returned it Monday AM & got the full $3.74 back so my coupon didn’t really go to waste.

Almay Eye Shadow Trio for Hazel – $7.49 – $1/1 – $2.50ECB (coming tomorrow) = $4.00

Pert Plus – $1.99 on sale – $1/1 = $0.99

Gilllette Shampoo (3) – $4.99 each – $2/1 – $3ECB = $0.01 MM each

Head & Shoulders (2) – $4.99 each – $1/1 -$3ECB = $0.99 each

Huggies (2)- $10 each – $1.50/1 – $5.00ECB – $6.00 each. ($.0176 PPD).

Total Original Price:  $75.10

Total Sale Price:  $58.18

Less Coupons Used:   $12.50

Less P.E. ECBs:  $10.00

OOP:   $39.30

ECB’s Earned:   $22.50 *

Less Return:   $3.75

Total Trip Cost:    $9.43

My Walgreens trip was much easier.

Colgate MaxFresh – $2.99 on sale – $1.00/1 – $2RR = $0.01MM

Savings – 100%

*  *  *

My Monday CVS Trip fixed my previous error.    It was not as impressive because I had to buy some other stuff not on sale, but needed.   And I bought this magazine because it had a bunch of coupons in it, but didn’t noticed that they expired LAST SUMMER.   Sigh.

Almay Eye Shadow Base – $8.99 – $1/1 – $2.50ECB = $5.49

Other junk – $10.77

Total Regular Price – $20.96

Total Sale Price – $19.76

Less P.E. ECBs – $5.00

Coupon Craziness 2

On Sunday, I did my coupon caper shopping.

p-640-480-388cfa9d-9196-405d-90c6-e7a7091ead33.jpeg

I did pretty good at Walgreens. I only bought four things. The first was some Revlon matte collection eyeshadow. It was priced at $5.29 and I had a $2.00 coupon plus it was a free with rebate item so I made $2.00. A little more actually, since I get a 10% bonus on rebates by putting it on a Walgreens card.

I also got a package of Huggies diapers (34 ct) for $9.99 and had a coupon for $1.50 off, plus I got a $1.00RR. I can also submit this for a Caregivers Marketplace rebate of $0.75. Final price = $6.74. Not as good as some, but since I’m just starting out, I’m not overly concerned. Average PPD is about 20 cents.

I also got 2 boxes of Lightdays pantyliners (48 ct) on sale 2/$6. I used two $1.50/1 coupons I got by requesting a sample and got $1RR. Final price = $1.00 each.

Original price – $25.76
Sale price – $21.38
Coupon used – $6.50
Total due – $16.38
OOP – $0.00 (I used a previous WG rebate gift card)

Total saving (with rebate) – almost 68%!

p-640-480-e40b111c-14d4-4c02-b03f-313cc071c92d.jpeg

At CVS, I only picked up 2 things, well 3 if you want to get technical. I bought some Maybelline mineral foundation for $9.99 & some concealor for $8.49. Total was $18.48. I had a $3/1 coupon. Total after coupon = $15.48. Because I bought 2 items, I got $10 in ECB’s. Final price $5.48 (or about $2.75 each).

I also bought a bottle of St. Ives body wash on sale for $2.99. I used a printable coupon for $2.00 from their website and got it for a $0.99!

Total value – $22.47
Sale price – $21.47
Coupons used – $5.00
P.E. ECB’s used – $2.00
Total OOP – $14.47
ECB earned – $10.00
Total trip cost – $6.47 *

Total savings – almost 70%!

I also ended up with some unexpected K-mart goodness that I didn’t realize until I got home and looked at the (remnants) of the receipt.

Among other things, I bought a swifter mop kit and some wet and dry refills. The starter kit was $9.99 and I had a $2/1 coupon from a mailer – That they DOUBLED!!! So it was only $5.99!

They also had refills 2/$7. I had a $0.50 coupon from the same mailer that they also doubled. So I got the refills for $3.00 each. Nothing special there but the doubling was unexpected so I felt the need to include it.

* I didn’t want to count previously earned ECB’s twice so I omitted them from trip cost.
